The Raku Neolas

The Raku Neolas are a pair of handmade earrings that cannot be replicated. These face charms endured the Japanese firing process called Raku.

In a short period of time, the ceramic faces are heated, removed from the kiln quickly, and let to cool under a metal barrel with a mixture of natural elements including pine needles, dead leaves, and newspaper clippings. Once cooled, I get to see what jewelry pieces survived the process.

The Raku Neola earrings are intentionally and imperfectly matched with a copper penny glaze shimmering on the top. The uncontrollability and durability is what makes these earrings beautiful statement pieces.

*Modeled by Sarah Cohen Walker.

*Handmade and hand-painted ceramic earrings made with sterling silver and gold plated sterling silver. One-of-a-kind Raku clay earrings fired in Oklahoma City.
